Support We Provide
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
We are committed to providing our raisers with quality support in every way. Some raisers have already raised a puppy; others have never taken care of a dog before. Regardless of your level of prior experience, Guiding Eyes can help you successfully raise a puppy until it is ready to be evaluated for guide dog training.
Groups of raisers living in a geographic area are supported by trained volunteers called Region Coordinators and Region Helpers. Each group is called a puppy raising region. To find the region closest to you, see the region map. By clicking on the region, you will find contact information for that region, as well as the times and locations of classes and a web address if the region has its own website.
Guiding Eyes staff called Region Managers work closely with the Region Team (Region Coordinators and Region Helpers). The Region Managers have extensive training and experience with raising puppies, and support the volunteers in the puppy raising region. They assist with any regional concerns, communicate and demonstrate new techniques that are implemented by Guiding Eyes, and ensure that all the puppies in the region are progressing satisfactorily. Region Managers work individually with each raiser and pup at least once every three months. For contact numbers for your Region Coordinator, see the puppy raising region map and select your state.
Puppy Raisers may be eligible to claim deductions on their income tax. Click here for a simple guide to potential Tax Deductions for Guiding Eyes Volunteers. For further clarification, please consult your tax professional.
